Two Very Different Books

The best book I've read this semester is called Keeping Corner by Kashimira Sheth. It's about an Indian girl who became a widow when she was twelve, and is trying to change her place as a widow in her society.

I liked the book a lot because I've read articles about young widows in Asia and I'm able to connect parts of the book to the articles. The book also seemed very real to me, probably because the story is based on the author's aunt when she was a child. I also liked the way the author wrote the book, especially the way she described emotions of characters in the book. It really makes you beliefe in it.

The book I didn't enjoy this semester was The Parrot's Theorem, it's trying to talk about math in a fun way, but I think it failed miserably. The story was actually quite interesting in the first few pages, but it becomes very boreing after that. I think the author was having a hard time encorperating the mathematical theories into the book when he wrote it.

The word choice of the book was also boreing, there wasn't much description and everything was jumbled together. There were also too much additional information that was completely irrelevant to the main story. It would have been better if the author just wrote a non-fiction book about mathematics.
